Long Plain First Nation
Watermain replacement underway
Project tracker:
Projected lift date: Summer 2026
Long Plain First Nation in Manitoba is home to approximately 2681 people on reserve. The community is repairing a watermain failure, with support from Indigenous Services Canada (ISC).
There is 1 long-term drinking water advisory affecting 33 homes and 12 community buildings:
- A boil water advisory was set on the Long Plain Public Water System in April 2025 and became long-term in April 2026.
The advisory was issued after a watermain break caused a loss of pressure in the system. Construction of a replacement watermain is currently underway and is estimated for substantial completion in May 2026. The community is also upgrading its water treatment plant to better meet long-term needs.
Once repairs are complete, water testing will be undertaken to support lifting of the boil water advisory.
