Construction underway on water treatment plant upgrade

Project tracker

Projected lift date: September 2024

Fort Severn First Nation in Ontario is home to 553 people on reserve. The community is upgrading their water treatment system to provide long-term, sustainable access to clean water.

There is 1 long-term drinking water advisory affecting 110 homes and 6 community buildings:

The advisory was initially set due to issues with the above ground raw water reservoirs. Repairs to the raw water reservoir liner were completed in July 2023.

The community is also upgrading their water treatment system to address long-term water needs. Construction is underway and expected to be completed in fall 2024. Once the upgrades are complete, the community should be in a position to lift the advisory.
