Report 3—Access to Safe Drinking Water in First Nations Communities
- The audit focused on whether Indigenous Services Canada provided adequate support to First Nations communities to ensure that they have access to safe drinking water. It examined the department's progress against the federal government's commitment to eliminate all long-term drinking water advisories on public water systems on First Nations reserves by March 31, 2021.
- There were four recommendations directed to Indigenous Services Canada.
- The Report was tabled in Parliament in February 2021 and a Public Accounts Committee appearance for this audit took place in June 2021.
Report 9—Investing in Canada Plan
- The audit focused on whether Infrastructure Canada and key federal organizations could demonstrate that the plan was meeting its objectives and whether they were providing complete, reliable, and timely reporting on the plan to Canadians.
- There were no recommendations for Indigenous Services Canada.
- The Report was tabled in Parliament in March 2021 and a Public Accounts Committee appearance for this audit took place in June 2021.
Report 11—Health Resources for Indigenous Communities
- The audit focused on whether Indigenous Services Canada provided sufficient personal protective equipment, nurses, and paramedics to Indigenous communities and organizations in a coordinated and timely manner in order to protect Indigenous peoples against COVID‑19.
- There were two recommendations for Indigenous Services Canada.
- The Report was tabled in Parliament in May 2021 and a Public Accounts Committee appearance for this audit is yet to be scheduled.
Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development Report 2—Review of Departmental Sustainable Development Strategies: Safe and Healthy Communities Goal 13
- This review focused on whether federal departments and agencies contributed to the goal of safe and healthy communities in the 2016–2019 Federal Sustainable Development Strategy.
- There were two recommendations made by the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development in the review and one of those two recommendations was for all 12 federal departments and agencies including Indigenous Services Canada.
- The Report was tabled in Parliament in October 2020.
