Eabametoong First Nation in Ontario is home to 1,623 people. The First Nation has completed work to expand and upgrade the community's water treatment plant, with funding from Indigenous Services Canada (ISC).
There is 1 long-term drinking water advisory affecting 267 homes and 12 community buildings:
- a boil water advisory for the Eabametoong Public Water System was set in August 2001 and became long-term in August 2002
The First Nation expanded and upgraded their water treatment plant in 2019. The plant sustained damage from a fire in July 2023. Restoration work, including major structural repairs, is now substantially complete. Infrastructure is in place that can produce clean drinking water.
Efforts are currently underway to address minor outstanding deficiencies. ISC will continue to support the community to address any other concerns.
