Oneida Nation of the Thames

Long-term solution identified, design underway

Project tracker

Projected lift date: November 2025

Oneida Nation of the Thames is home to 2,230 people on reserve. The community is working on a solution to meet their long-term water needs, including a connection to an existing municipal water system and distribution system upgrades.

There is 1 long-term drinking water advisory affecting 546 homes and 22 community buildings:

  • a boil water advisory on the Oneida Public Water System was set in September 2019 and became long-term in September 2020

A feasibility study on possible solutions to address issues with the water treatment system is complete. Design of a connection to an existing municipal water system including on-reserve distribution upgrades and extensions is underway. Once the connection is complete, the community should be able to lift the advisory.
